Sophie Downs

Little Mount Isa Prospect (Zinc)
Ilmars Prospect (Base Metals)
THX 100% (August 2014)

Sophie Downs is an Exploration Licence E80/3673 covering a total area of approximately 27 square kilometres. It is located 27 kilometres north of Halls Creek in WA and contains two principal prospects – Ilmars and Little Mount Isa.

Ilmars has been the subject of a substantial amount of historical work by a number of companies. Drilling has delivered plenty of “smoke” but to date no intercepts have been reported with potentially economic widths and grades. Thundelarra’s best intercept was 24m at 2.05% Zn, 0.38% Cu, 0.25% Pb and 11 gpt Ag from 75m in hole TAXR6094.

By comparison, Little Mount Isa has been poorly explored. Thundelarra’s best results have been 13m at 4.6% Zn from 52m in hole TSDRC06; and 12m at 4.0% Zn from 54m in hole TSDRC05. These were reported on 20 August 2013 and were subsequently followed up by 8m at 4.76% Zn from 41m in hole TSDRC07 reported on 19 February 2014.

The potential for replacement style skarn mineralisation at depth remains to be tested at Little Mount Isa.
