East Kimberley Overview
Since 2012 Thundelarra has significantly reduced and simplified its portfolio of project holdings in the East Kimberley, consistent with its stated strategy of project rationalisation and specific commodity focus.
All previous nickel interests have been surrendered or sold, with the exception of Keller Creek (also known as Frog Hollow) adjacent to Panoramic Resources Ltd’s operating Savannah Nickel Mine. Thundelarra retains a 20% free carried interest in this project operated by Panoramic.
Frank Hill (also known as Azura) is an early stage exploration project that is prospective for copper. Drilling in the past year has delivered interesting results, including the presence of native copper grains in fresh mafic rocks. Further work is planned but Frank Hill remains a lower priority exploration target for the Company.
Sophie Downs contains two prospects of interest – Ilmars, where a number of previous explorers have found highly anomalous metal intercepts without locating anything of commercial size; and the Little Mount Isa prospect located on the Halls Creek Fault Zone. Thundelarra has identified good zinc intersections when drilling at Little Mount Isa. Further work to test the potential at depth is planned.
